. . . the time of year when I am the laziest laze-about to ever laze.
Seriously. Late January, early February? It's all I can do to pause the Buffy DVDs long enough to go feed myself so I don't die of starvation. I had things I was going to do tonight. I have things I'm going to do tonight.
. . . right?
Maybe if I watch all the rest of Season 7 really fast, then the lack of additional Buffy to watch will compel me to be productive.
Maybe.
So you know, peanut gallery's not holding its breath on that whole productivity thing. Just so you know.
I mean, sure, I didn't go to fencing, and I'm not making any progress on my grading, and I still need to write tonight -- but I did go through some random old mail, and rearrange the storage closet, and now I'm going to try to hang a picture.
Because I can do all that while still watching. <g>
My friend, that way lies fanfic ....
Of course, the YA I'm trying to finish right now owes more than a little to Buffy in its inspiration. Maybe if I think of it that way, I'll be more energetic about working on it?
I should never try to novel at this time of year.
.... and now I'm that much more eager to read your YA piece. Has it scheduled its coming out party yet?
P.S. - Also, I'm not making a mental catalogue of texts inspired by Buffy: many lump early LKH in there, I believe that Robin McKinley's admitted to it having played a part in the writing of _Sunshine_ ... oh, there will be papers written, oh, yes, precious.
As for the YA, its coming out party will have to wait upon its completion, revision, submission, and sale. Unless by "coming out" you mean going to editors, in which case the list is slightly shorter, but still about two months long.
If'n when you write such papers, I'd be more than happy to talk about what I mean and don't mean when I say this was inspired by Buffy.
But after Buffy there's all that Angel...
Oh for it to be summer again.
Don't forget that after season 7, there's a season 8 in comic book form! =D
<3 Buffy!
I'll totally not spoil anything, scout's honor. ^^
I wish I could give into my laze, but school would eat me. How did you get through it back when you were doing classwork and grading and stuff?
Just not, y'know, right now. <g>
But in answer to your question: I dunno. I swear, I was like twice as motivated and energetic when I was twenty.
On the other hand, I do know a lot of people who swear up and down that season 7 "really isn't that bad." And I suppose that compared, say, to season 4 of Angel, it's not. All a matter of opinion, I say.
I think both S6 and S7 of Buffy have rock-solid concepts and good elements to their execution, but the pacing of both was shot to hell, with ancillary consequences to other aspects.
So close, but not done yet.
Only sheer bloody discipline is getting me to start writing just now.
